German brewer Veltins has acquired non-alcoholic malt-drinks brand Karamalz from fellow German brewer Eichbaum for an undisclosed sum. Veltins, which had distributed Karamalz, will now take on the production and trademark rights of the brand. The deal aims to boost growth in the malt drink segment, according to Veltins’ sales and marketing director. Karamalz was first sold in 1955 by Henninger Bräu before ownership transferred to Eichbaum in 2001.
