American Airlines has appointed industry veteran Nat Pieper as its new commercial chief as the carrier’s profits lag behind Delta and United. The former chief commercial officer was ousted in 2024 after a failed business travel strategy. Pieper, with over 20 years of experience, previously managed the Oneworld airline alliance.
Pieper’s focus on collaboration and delivering results aligns with American’s goals. He aims to enhance technology to streamline customer travel experiences within the Oneworld alliance. Starting on November 3, he will oversee the airline’s commercial strategy, loyalty program, network planning, and revenue and sales departments in Fort Worth, Texas.
