YouTube TV is facing a potential blackout of Disney networks, including ABC and ESPN, if a new distribution agreement isn’t reached by October 30. Disney has begun running public messages on YouTube TV. The clash is over better rates for Disney’s programming, with YouTube TV wanting more favorable terms for its 10 million subscribers.

YouTube TV previously avoided a blackout with NBCUniversal through a temporary extension before finalizing a deal. Disney is willing to offer YouTube TV the same terms as its agreement with Charter, which includes access to Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+. YouTube TV is also requesting to ingest Disney’s streaming content, but Disney has no plans to agree.

The conflict between Disney and YouTube has an added element, with YouTube hiring a former Disney executive earlier this year. The former executive has recused himself from the negotiations. Comcast, the parent company of NBCUniversal, owns CNBC. Versant is set to become the new parent company of CNBC after Comcast’s planned spinoff.
