The Nasdaq Composite surged 40% last year due in part to artificial intelligence (AI) investment. Amazon is often overlooked compared to Microsoft, Alphabet, and Nvidia as an AI play. Amazon’s cloud business, Amazon Web Services (AWS), is a major profit center, generating over 70% of Amazon’s operating income. In September, the company announced a $4 billion investment in Anthropic, its own rival to OpenAI, which will be using Amazon as its primary cloud provider and training future generative AI models on the AWS cloud. In the long run, Amazon is well-positioned to dominate among tech leaders. The Stock Advisor service has more than tripled the return of the S&P 500 since 2002*.
