WH deplores sexually-explicit AI-generated Taylor Swift images

The White House called for legislation to address the proliferation of fake, abusive images of celebrities, including Taylor Swift, that are being circulated online. Social media platforms are also urged to take action to prevent the spread of these images.

X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, has been flooded with fake, sexually explicit images of Taylor Swift. The images have accumulated millions of views and thousands of reposts, prompting bipartisan calls from members of Congress for new safeguards.

X is working to remove the images and take action against the accounts involved in spreading them. President Joe Biden is also collaborating with AI companies to watermark generated images, making it easier to identify fakes. Additionally, the administration has established a task force and a Justice Department hotline to tackle online harassment and abuse.
