Bavarian Nordic has donated 110,000 doses of mpox vaccine to Africa CDC to aid in the response to the ongoing outbreak in Africa, with Uganda receiving the allocation. This donation aims to increase vaccine availability in the country, which has reported the second-highest number of mpox cases in Africa in 2025. The company previously donated doses to the European Commission’s Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Authority and GAVI eligible countries. The MVA-BN vaccine, approved in multiple countries, was developed to ensure a supply of smallpox vaccine for the entire population. Bavarian Nordic is a global vaccine company focused on public health preparedness.
