Huntington Bancshares has agreed to acquire Cadence Bank, a US bank with $53bn in assets, for $7.4bn in a stock deal. The acquisition is set to be completed in Q1 2026 pending regulatory and shareholder approvals. Cadence Bank’s chairman and CEO will join Huntington’s board, with two more Cadence members. Huntington plans to rebrand Cadence’s branches in Q2 2026 while maintaining community support initiatives. The deal will boost Huntington’s presence in the southern US, particularly in Texas and Mississippi. After closing, Huntington will have assets of $276bn and deposits of $220bn, expanding into high-growth markets like Houston and Dallas.
