Hedge fund billionaire Ken Griffin: Harvard produces ‘whiny snowflakes’

One of the largest donors to Harvard University, Ken Griffin, has threatened to withhold financial support until he sees significant changes. Last year, he donated 300 million to the university. However, he is disturbed by the handling of antisemitism and diversity initiatives and has joined in a wave of wealthy donors withholding gifts.
Among his concerns are the fact that Harvard has had Congressional committees initiate investigations. President Claudine Gay resigned this month with accusations of antisemitism handling and accusations of plagiarism in her scholarship. Harvard is also under scrutiny from lawmakers, students, and alumni. The University did not immediately respond to a request for comment about Griffin’s remarks.
Griffin is concerned after watching Gay’s Dec. 5 testimony in Congress when she declined to condemn calls for genocide against Jews. He is also questioning where elite education is heading in America due to school’s confusion in microaggressions and DEI agendas with no real resolution.
Harvard is now a cause for concern for donors. Harvard’s financial strain grows with Ken Griffin’s decision to pull back financial support. Harvard depends on gifts from donors to pay for expenses. 37% of Harvard’s revenue came from endowment distributions, and 8% from gifts during latest fiscal year.
