Air China Cargo plans to purchase six A350 freighter aircraft from Airbus, becoming the first mainland Chinese carrier to do so. The deal includes options for four additional planes, with deliveries scheduled between 2029 and 2031, totaling $4.65 billion. The move aims to optimize the company’s fleet structure and capacity.

Airbus has secured 72 orders for the A350F, set for delivery in late 2027. The aircraft is designed to be 20% more fuel-efficient than the Boeing 777 and older 747-400 freighters. With advanced composite materials, the A350F is 50 tons lighter than the Boeing 777X freighter, featuring a large cargo door for easy loading.

The A350F can carry up to 120 tons over 4,700 nautical miles, powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines. This model boasts a lightweight design and is expected to be more efficient than previous freighters. Air China Cargo’s purchase aligns with market demand and aims to enhance long-term operational stability.
