Matson (MATX) exceeded revenue expectations in Q3 CY2025, reporting $880.1 million in sales, an 8.5% decline year on year. GAAP profit was $4.24 per share, 30.3% above consensus estimates. Operating income in Ocean Transportation decreased due to lower freight rates and container volume in the China service. Matson’s five-year revenue growth rate was 8.8%, slightly above the industry average. The company’s operating margin was 18.3% in Q3, down from 24.7% a year ago. EPS grew at a 35.8% annual rate over five years but declined to $4.24 in Q3 from $5.89 a year earlier. Wall Street projects a 22.5% decline in EPS over the next 12 months.
