Corn prices are up 1 to 2 cents on Monday, with December gaining 8 ¼ cents for the week. Open interest decreased by 2,280 contracts, and the national average cash price is $3.91 1/4. Support comes from wheat and soybean strength. December futures close at $4.22, the harvest price for insurance.

Ukrainian corn exports in October were only 0.8 MMT, sharply lower than last year’s 1.73 MMT. Argentina’s corn crop is 35% planted. Brazil’s first corn crop is 60% planted, just one point higher than last year. Corn futures for Dec 25 closed at $4.31 1/2, nearby cash at $3.91 1/4, Mar 26 at $4.44, and May 26 at $4.52 1/4.
