Adeia, a technology licensing company, filed two lawsuits against Advanced Micro Devices in Texas federal court for allegedly infringing on ten patents related to semiconductor innovations. AMD processors used in desktops, laptops, and servers are said to violate Adeia’s patent rights. Adeia CEO Paul Davis stated that AMD’s use of their technology has contributed to their success and they are open to a fair arrangement. Adeia is seeking monetary damages and a court order for AMD to stop using their patented technology. No response from AMD has been reported. AMD, a large U.S. semiconductor company, recently signed a deal with the U.S. government to build two AI-powered supercomputers. Adeia, based in San Jose, was previously part of Xperi before becoming an independent company in 2022.
