Fulton County DA Fani Willis admits to ‘personal relationship’ with Nathan Wade

From Fortune Magazine:

Willis, the Fulton County District Attorney, has acknowledged a “personal relationship” with special prosecutor Nathan Wade, whom she hired for the Georgia election interference case against Donald Trump. She argues that there are no grounds to dismiss the case or remove her from prosecution, despite allegations of a conflict of interest.

Trump and 18 others were indicted in August for attempting to overturn his loss in the 2020 presidential election in Georgia, including a phone call in which Trump urged the Secretary of State to “find” the 11,780 votes needed to overturn his loss to Joe Biden. Trump has pleaded not guilty.

Willis’ team has responded to a motion alleging an inappropriate romantic relationship between Willis and Wade, emphasizing the absence of any financial or personal conflict of interest. The motion called the allegations “salacious” and said they “garnered the media attention they were designed to obtain.”

Willis is up for reelection this year and is being scrutinized for the relationship with Wade, which contradicts previous statements she made while running for the position of district attorney. Trump has also accused Willis and prosecutors of engaging in political attacks as he appears poised to become the 2024 Republican nominee for president.

The response from the district attorney fiercely defended Wade’s qualifications to lead the prosecution team, saying he “has long distinguished himself as an exceptionally talented litigator with significant trial experience.”

The personal relationship revelation and the subsequent legal proceedings have captivated the attention of media and legal experts, as it raises ethical and political implications in the highly anticipated case against former President Donald Trump and others involved in the alleged election interference.
