The THC cap proposal is advancing in Florida, with a 30% limit on delta-9 THC in pre-rolls and whole buds. Vapes and wax would be capped at 60% if the bill is approved. This would only take effect 30 days after November’s election if an amendment to legalize nonmedical marijuana products is passed.
A lawsuit in New York aims to halt the cannabis business licensing process due to alleged violations in the randomized queue for reviewing applications. If successful, it could impact the first mover advantage in the industry. The lawsuit challenges the procedural aspects and was filed by seven women-owned social equity cannabis companies.
Lawmakers in Virginia are pushing for a regulated marketplace for cannabis sales, treating cannabis like alcohol. A bill aiming for legal cannabis sales by 2025 advanced but was amended to upgrade penalties for selling cannabis products without a license from a Class 2 to a Class 1 misdemeanor, with possible jail time for subsequent offenses.
