Money expert Dave Ramsey advises homeowners to spend no more than 25% of their take-home pay on housing expenses. A mother of eight called into “The Ramsey Show” with a $3,900 monthly mortgage payment and a $120,000 annual income. Ramsey called the housing payment “stupid” and recommended selling the house as they couldn’t afford it. He suggested aiming for a $2,000 monthly housing payment.
