AstraZeneca’s Bax24 Phase III trial results show baxdrostat significantly reduces 24-hour systolic blood pressure in patients with treatment-resistant hypertension, with a 14 mmHg reduction in ambulatory 24-hour average SBP compared to placebo. Over 70% of patients achieved guideline-recommended blood pressure targets consistently. The study included patients receiving 2mg of baxdrostat or placebo in addition to standard care, with efficacy observed throughout the day. Baxdrostat met its primary endpoint at 12 weeks, showing improvements in key secondary endpoints and potential to transform care for patients with difficult-to-control hypertension.
