Australian oil and gas company 3D Energi provides updates on drilling at Essington-1 gas exploration well in Otway Basin, Victoria, reaching 1,736m MDRT and 1,704m TVDSS after nine days. Crew preparing for 9⅝in casing installation before drilling to planned total depth of 2,650m TVDSS, expected to take 32 days. Operations running smoothly with no accidents reported. 3D Energi owns 20% equity interest in project with ConocoPhillips Australia (51%) and Korea National Oil Company (29%). Drilling commenced on November 1, 2025, using Transocean Equinox rig for Otway exploration programme targeting 262bcf of mean prospective gas resources in Waarre C and Waarre A reservoirs at depths of 2,240m TVDSS and 2,470m TVDSS, with 76% and 68% chance of success, respectively.
