The Senate voted 60-40 to advance a bill to end the government shutdown, the longest in U.S. history. Democratic Senators broke ranks to support the bill, which includes a vote on extending Obamacare tax credits. Approval could be delayed by one Senator and still needs House approval. The news prompted some traders to buy stocks at lower levels. Ending the shutdown would allow the release of key economic data previously withheld.
