Siddhant Awasthi, a key figure behind the Cybertruck at Tesla, is leaving the company after eight years. He announced his departure on LinkedIn without specifying his next steps. Awasthi worked on Model 3 and Cybertruck programs, new electronics systems, Giga Shanghai launch, and increasing Model 3 production.

Tesla faced challenges with recalls of over 63,000 Cybertrucks in the US due to bright front lights and more than 46,000 recalled in March for loose exterior trim panels. The company reported its fourth consecutive profit decline in October, with third-quarter earnings dropping 37 percent to $1.4 billion due to the end of a federal EV tax credit.

Despite financial struggles, Tesla’s stock rose after shareholders approved a plan giving CEO Elon Musk up to $1 trillion in stock if he meets long-term performance goals. The stock increase followed the news of the approval of the plan.
