Private equity company Carlyle has acquired The Very Group, ending the Barclay family’s two-decade involvement in the UK-based online retailer. Financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed, but Carlyle and IMI will continue to support the management team for long-term growth and innovation.

The Very Group reported record earnings for the year ended June 28, 2025, with adjusted EBITDA growing 15.9% year-on-year to £307.1m. Operating costs also decreased to their lowest level to date, indicating strong financial performance under the new ownership structure.
