Michael Selig, the chief counsel for the crypto task force at the US SEC, faces questioning from senators next week for the nomination as chair of the CFTC. The nomination hearing is set for Nov. 19, following the removal of Brian Quintenz. Quintenz’s hearings were delayed in July amid pushback from Gemini co-founders.

The US House passed the CLARITY Act in July to clarify roles of SEC and CFTC over cryptocurrencies. A discussion draft of a market structure bill was released by Senate Republicans, moving legislation forward for the first time in weeks. The bill awaits consideration in the Senate Agriculture and Banking Committees before a full floor vote.
