Uber earnings Q4 2023

Uber reported fourth-quarter results that beat analysts’ estimates with earnings per share of 66 cents vs. 17 cents and revenue of $9.94 billion vs. $9.76 billion expected. Net income was $1.4 billion, up from $595 million the year prior, and the company’s revenue was up 15% from the prior year. CEO Dara Khosrowshahi stated that 2023 was a year of profitable growth for Uber, which saw a continued shift in consumer spending benefiting the company. Uber also reported 150 million monthly active platform consumers, up 15% from the prior year, with 2.6 billion trips completed. The company’s largest business segments, Mobility and Delivery, saw gross bookings increase by 29% and 19%, respectively, while the Freight segment reported a 17% decline in sales. Uber expects to report gross bookings between $37 billion and $38.5 billion, and adjusted EBITDA of $1.26 billion to $1.34 billion for the first quarter of 2024. Although the freight business continues to be a challenge for the company, Khosrowshahi expressed optimism for the future. Shares of Uber fell by more than 2% following the announcement.
