Ford Motor is moving to a new 2.1-million-square-foot world headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan, replacing its 1950s “Glass House” headquarters. The new facility aims to promote collaboration and efficiency among employees, with space for up to 4,000 executives and staff involved in design and product development. Construction is expected to continue until 2027.

The new headquarters features a 160,000-square-foot dining area with eight unique “kitchen concepts,” offering rotating menus and take-home options like pizza and rotisserie chickens for $6. The space is designed to accommodate employees from around the world and promote collaboration over food. Additionally, the building includes six courtyards and outdoor areas for a more walkable campus.

Ford’s new headquarters emphasizes purposeful design, with prominent staircases meant to encourage their use over elevators and escalators. Each staircase is carefully crafted to provide a journey-like experience for employees. The building also showcases various artworks, including vehicle parts and non-automotive pieces, while the Ford logo is subtly integrated into the design, with hidden numbers representing Ford patents.
