Biden Vs. Trump: New Poll Projects Dead Heat But One Candidate Gains Decisive Lead Under This Condition

A new poll finds that President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump are nearly tied, with Biden receiving 48% support from registered voters and Trump closely behind with 47%. The poll surveyed 1,582 adults from Jan. 29 through Feb. 1, and found that Trump has 51% Republican support, with 5% Republicans undecided. Independent voters favor Trump over Biden, 50% to 42%.
Biden leads former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley in a hypothetical match-up by a 46%-45% margin, with Haley performing better than Trump among independents. The poll also found that majority of Americans disapprove of Biden’s job as the president, with 54% disapproval rating, and 40% unfavorable and 53% favorable impression. Trump fared slightly lower than Biden, with a 55% unfavorable impression and 40% favorable impression. Republicans appear to be willing to endorse Trump with three-fourths of them not concerned about his being too extreme for the general election.
