Venture Global has applied for FERC approval for the Plaquemines LNG expansion project and has requested export authorizations from the DoE. The project’s expected output has increased by nearly 40% due to LNG production optimization and market demand. The expansion will be implemented in three phases with 32 liquefaction trains, adding over 30mtpa in capacity. The total peak production capacity at the Plaquemines complex will exceed 58mtpa. FERC recently granted Venture Global an extension for the commissioning phase, allowing the company to sell LNG on the spot market. CEO Mike Sabel highlighted the project’s importance in meeting market demand.
