Financial giant Mastercard has selected Polygon Labs to enable verified username transfers in self-custody wallets. They have partnered with Mercuryo to verify users and issue aliases. The Crypto Credential framework assigns human-readable aliases to verified individuals, similar to mainstream payment apps. This move aims to streamline wallet addresses and build trust in digital token transfers. Polygon’s Proof-of-Stake chain offers fast settlement and low transaction costs, making it ideal for payment-scale activities. Mastercard, Ripple, Gemini, and WebBank have formed a partnership to explore using Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin for credit card transactions.
