US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent surprised the Bitcoin community by attending the launch of Washington’s Bitcoin-themed bar, Pubkey. Prominent Bitcoin figures viewed his appearance as a positive sign for the cryptocurrency. Bessent has shown support for digital assets, backing bills like the GENIUS Act and exploring budget-neutral ways to buy Bitcoin.
Despite Bessent’s support, Bitcoin has been experiencing a downtrend, trading at around $85,500 after hitting an all-time high of $125,100. Social media mentions predict Bitcoin dropping to $20,000-$70,000 or rising to $100,000-$130,000. Pubkey’s launch follows the success of its New York City venue, which gained attention in 2022 and spotlight in 2024 when Donald Trump visited.
