The U.S. SEC has dropped its litigation against SolarWinds Corp and its security officer over a Russia-linked cyberattack. The case, filed in late 2023, accused SolarWinds of concealing vulnerabilities related to the 2020 Sunburst cyber attack. The parties filed a motion to dismiss the case with prejudice after negotiations.

SolarWinds, CISO Timothy Brown, and the SEC agreed to dismiss the case. A spokesperson for SolarWinds expressed delight over the dismissal and hopes it eases concerns for other CISOs. The resolution comes after a pause in court proceedings to negotiate a resolution.
