Spotify plans to increase prices for U.S. customers in the first quarter of 2026, marking its third price increase in three years. A $1 monthly increase could boost revenues by nearly half a billion dollars per year, following previous price hikes in the U.K. and Australia.
The potential $1 price increase would align with past subscription cost increases, with the last increase in June 2024 bringing the price to $11.99 per month. This would only be the third price increase since Spotify launched in the U.S. 14 years ago.
Other music streaming services like Pandora, Amazon Music, and Apple Music have also raised prices recently. Labels seek higher royalty payments, while services aim to increase profits. Spotify claims profitability for over a year amidst executive changes, with founder Daniel Ek stepping down as CEO in September.
