Hennessy Cornerstone Mid Cap 30 Fund HFMDX has outperformed fund category and index by 8 percentage points annualized over the past three and five years and 4 percentage points annualized over 10 years. Portfolio manager Ryan Kelley uses a basic, seven-part screen to identify top stocks. To succeed in the market, Kelley advises to go with the flow, let your winners run, favor value, go with midcaps, and stay optimistic. This contrarian strategy has provided the fund with mostly consumer discretionary, energy, and industrials stocks. It avoids commodities and banks for valuations above 1.5 times sales.
