Paramount Global lays off about 800 employees after Super Bowl

Paramount Global, which owns assets like CBS and Paramount Pictures, is considering merger and acquisition options. Its streaming service, Paramount+, continues to lose money each quarter, reporting a $238 million loss in the third quarter.
Super Bowl LVIII on CBS was the most-watched television show in history, with approximately 123.4 million viewers across all platforms. CBS charged a record average of $6.5 million for a 30-second advertisement. The network also earned extra revenue because the game went to overtime.
