The stock is up 140.5% YTD and 118.9% over the past year, trading above its moving averages. The surge in Newmont’s stock is due to a rally in gold prices, with investors expecting gold to reach $5,000 by 2026. In comparison, rival Barrick Gold Corporation (GOLD) has underperformed NEM. Analysts rate NEM as a “Strong Buy” with a mean price target of $103.92.
