ZKsync Lite, the first ZK rollup on Ethereum, will be deprecated in 2026 after fulfilling its purpose. Matter Labs launched it in 2020 for fast transfers and NFT minting, but it lacked support for smart contracts. No immediate action needed for users, funds are safe. ZKsync Era is unaffected.

ZKsync Lite used validity proofs to instantly verify transactions, stopping development in 2023. The team plans to share migration guidance soon. $50 million is bridged to the network, but only 330 user operations in the past day. ZKsync Era has $36.4 million TVL with over 22,000 user operations.
