IBM is in talks to purchase Confluent for $11bn, a California-based data infrastructure company. Confluent’s platform processes real-time data, with Q3 subscription revenue at $286m and a market cap of $8.09bn. IBM’s valuation is $287.84bn. Investor interest in data infrastructure firms is growing due to generative AI demand.
Confluent, considering a sale since October, attracted IBM’s interest. IBM recently acquired HashiCorp for $6.4bn to bolster cloud software. Meanwhile, IBM has been identified as a critical ICT third-party provider by European Supervisory Authorities under the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA).
Under DORA, IBM must comply with operational resilience standards. It will collaborate with ESAs to meet Europe’s financial system requirements. Clients can expect IBM to support them in adhering to evolving regulatory obligations.
