California Water Service (Cal Water) has received approval from the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to acquire Palm Mutual Water company, a move that will benefit 63 residential customers. The acquisition will allow Cal Water to upgrade infrastructure and provide safe, reliable water to Palm Mutual customers long-term. When finalized, Palm Mutual customers will be served by Cal Water’s Bakersfield District, which currently serves about 445,600 people. The purchase is expected to close in the first quarter of 2026, pending customary closing conditions.
