Cotton prices rose 45 to 50 points on Monday, with futures closing the previous session down 10 to 15 points. Crude oil futures were down 9 cents per barrel, while the US dollar index decreased by $0.061 to $98.405. A CFTC report showed a reduction of 2,086 contracts in the spec fund net short.
An online auction from The Seam on Thursday saw sales of 13,615 bales at an average price of 60.93 cents/lb. The Cotlook A Index increased by 25 points to 74.20 cents. ICE certified cotton stocks remained steady on December 11 at 13,971 bales. The Adjusted World Price was updated to 50.39 cents/lb.
On Friday, March 26 Cotton closed at 63.83, down 14 points but is currently up 50 points. Similarly, May 26 Cotton closed at 64.91, down 14 points, and is now up 48 points. Additionally, July 26 Cotton closed at 65.94, down 13 points, and is currently up 46 points.
