The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has signed a deal with Google’s YouTube for exclusive global rights to the Oscars from 2029 to 2033. ABC has rights until 2028. The Oscars, red carpet coverage, and other events will be available live on YouTube to over 2 billion viewers worldwide.
YouTube will also provide access to other Academy events and programs like the Governors Awards and film education programs. Academy CEO Bill Kramer and President Lynette Howell Taylor are excited about the partnership, which aims to expand access to the work of the Academy and celebrate cinema on a global scale.
YouTube CEO Neal Mohan believes the partnership will inspire a new generation of creativity and film lovers while staying true to the Oscars’ legacy. The collaboration aims to bring the celebration of storytelling and artistry to viewers worldwide, honoring excellence in the film industry.
