U.S. shoppers are ready to spend this holiday season, responding to discounts offered by retailers like Tanger. According to Visa data, in-store shopping accounted for 73% of spending, with online sales rising 7.8%. Consumer confidence fell to 89.1 in December, reflecting anxiety over prices and tariffs. The CNBC All-America Economic Survey found that 41% of Americans planned to spend less this holiday season due to higher prices. Retailers are optimistic about demand in 2026.
