Wheat prices are up with winter wheat contracts higher than spring wheat. Chicago SRW futures rose by 1 to 2 cents, with KC HRW futures up by 6 to 7 cents. Markets will close early today and be shut for Christmas on Thursday, reopening on Friday at 8:30 am CST.
Export sales for wheat saw an increase of 432,609 MT for the week of December 11, marking a 13.39% improvement from the previous week.
CFTC data showed an increase in spec net short positions for Chicago and KC wheat futures and options. Managed money added 8,702 contracts to their net short in KC wheat.
The EU soft wheat export estimates from July 1 to December 21 were 10.8 MMT, falling short of last year’s 11 MMT for the same period.
CBOT wheat prices closed higher, with Mar 26 at $5.17, May 26 at $5.27 1/4. KCBT wheat prices also closed higher, with Mar 26 at $5.28 and May 26 at $5.40. MGEX wheat prices closed mixed.
