United Airlines raises checked bag fee $5, following American

United Airlines is increasing baggage fees, charging $40 for the first checked bag and $50 for the second checked bag at the airport. These changes will take effect for domestic flights booked after February 24.
American Airlines has also raised its baggage fees, with the price for the first checked bag increasing to $35 when purchased in advance and $40 at the airport. The fee for a second checked bag has also gone up.
Airlines like JetBlue and Alaska Airlines have raised their baggage fees in response to growing costs and efforts to increase profits in an industry facing challenges with pricing power.
United Airlines has raised baggage fees for domestic flights, with costs increasing for the first and second checked bags. Certain passengers, like credit card holders and elite status travelers, are exempt from these fees.
