The crypto market experienced a broad correction, with Bitcoin dropping below $88,000 and altcoins like Audiera and WIF seeing significant losses. Ethereum stayed around $3,000 after a 1.5% decrease, while the NFT sector led with over 9% losses. The market plunged by $58 billion, bringing the total cap to $2.91 trillion.
VanEck issued an optimistic forecast for 2026, despite a record $8.6 billion in crypto deals in 2025. PitchBook data shows 267 deals this year, an 18% increase from 2024. Traditional financial players are recognizing the staying power of the asset class and are expected to increase their involvement in crypto deals.
Diego Ballon Ossio from Clifford Chance noted that traditional financial players are acknowledging the longevity of the asset class and are looking to acquire businesses within the crypto space to stay competitive. The number of crypto deals is projected to rise in 2026 as more players enter the market.
