Google is rolling out a new feature allowing users to change their Gmail address while keeping their account and data intact. The update is gradually being introduced, starting with Hindi-speaking markets. Users can switch to a new @gmail.com address while retaining their original one as an alias, simplifying account management.
The feature eliminates the need to create a new account and manually transfer data, preserving all existing content such as emails, photos, and messages. Users can still access services like Drive and YouTube using their original email. However, there are limitations, including a 12-month restriction on creating another new address and the inability to delete the new address.
Google has not formally announced the update, which first appeared in user forums. GOOG is currently trading at $315.09 on the NasdaqGS, slightly down by 0.18%. Please note that the views expressed are those of the author and not Nasdaq, Inc.
