India’s sugar production estimate for 2025/26 increased to 31 MMT, up +18.8% y/y, with 2025-26 production jumping +28% y/y to 7.83 MMT. Brazil raised its 2025/26 sugar production estimate to 45 MMT, with a 1.1% y/y rise in sugar output through November. ISO forecasted a 1.625 million MT sugar surplus in 2025-26.
Thailand’s sugar crop is projected to increase by +5% y/y to 10.5 MMT. The USDA forecasted a record 189.318 MMT global sugar production in 2025/26, with global human sugar consumption increasing to 177.921 MMT. Brazil’s sugar production is predicted to rise by 2.3% y/y to 44.7 MMT, and India’s to increase by 25% y/y to 35.25 MMT.
