British supermarket chain Asda has appointed Cal Corcoran as group chief information officer, effective January 5, 2026. Corcoran will oversee Asda’s technology and data functions as the company operates independently from Walmart. He brings over 25 years of senior IT leadership experience from various industries.
Asda reported a decline in underlying sales for Q3 2025, with total revenues of £5.1bn ($6.76bn) and like-for-like sales down 2.8%. The decrease was attributed to operational disruption following a major technology overhaul. The company stated that the cutover from Project Future significantly impacted trading performance.
Cal Corcoran’s experience in leading IT transformation and delivery in complex environments will guide Asda’s technology and data operations as the retailer focuses on building its independent infrastructure. Asda’s executive chairman Allan Leighton emphasized the critical role of data and technology in meeting customer expectations and growth plans for 2026.
