Stock index futures are down this morning, pointing to a weak start on Wall Street in the final trading session of 2025. The S&P 500 is up about 17% for the year, Dow up 13.5%, and Nasdaq 100 up 21%. U.S. equities soared to record highs in 2025. Yesterday, major indexes closed lower with chip and pharmaceutical stocks retreating. The Euro Stoxx 50 Index is down 0.22% today. Chinese markets closed higher as PMI data showed manufacturing activity returned to expansion. Mainland China’s financial markets will be closed Thursday and Friday for New Year holidays. Japanese markets are closed today.
