Furniture giant IKEA is set to close seven stores in China starting February 2, 2026, including locations in Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Tianjin. The move is part of a company-wide optimization effort to enhance efficiency in physical and digital channels. Affected customers can still shop through other IKEA stores in the same cities and online platforms like WeChat and Tmall. Despite the closures, IKEA remains committed to the Chinese market, where it has been operating since the 1960s, with plans to focus on growth in Beijing and Shenzhen. The company is also increasing its sourcing from US manufacturing facilities in response to tariff-related import costs.
