Intensity Infrastructure Partners and Rainbow Energy Center are moving forward with phase one of a 344-mile natural gas pipeline in North Dakota. The pipeline, scheduled for completion in early 2029, will transport 1,100,000 dekatherms per day. Phase two will extend the pipeline by 208 miles, serving as a flexible power and gas delivery hub.
The pipeline project will start near Watford City and end near Washburn in North Dakota, with plans to connect to six Bakken natural gas processing plants. It aims to meet market needs, support grid reliability, and industrial growth. The design eliminates compression fuel surcharges, ensuring transparent tariffs for shippers and supporting additional gas-fired electricity generation.
The phased pipeline approach allows for flexibility in responding to demand while maintaining operational reliability. By leveraging existing assets like Coal Creek and integrating with basin supply and interstate systems, the project is poised to meet current needs and accommodate future load growth effectively.
