In 2025, SVS Baker Steel Gold and Precious Metals fund was the top performer, rising almost 200%, driven by a rally in gold prices. Over 90% of all UK investor funds saw growth, with the best performing funds having exposure to the gold rally, reaching record highs. Precious metals became one of the strongest asset classes due to geopolitical uncertainty, central bank purchases, and interest rate cuts.

The 10 best performing funds more than doubled in value, with Korean equity being the second-best category. Barings Korea and JPMorgan Korea Equity funds saw significant growth as emerging markets like Brazil and Latin America also experienced strong gains. Natural resources equity funds, particularly those investing in mining companies, had a return of 52% on average, with some top funds holding precious metals miner Fresnillo.

SVS Baker Steel Gold and Precious Metals Fund was the top performer for UK investors in 2025, gaining 184.9% and outperforming the category average. The fund placed in the fourth percentile for performance and saw strong growth in December. Other top-performing funds included Jupiter Gold & Silver Fund, WS Ruffer Gold Fund, YFS Charteris Gold and Precious Metals Fund, and Ninety One Global Gold Fund.

WS Amati Strategic Metals Fund, SVS Sanlam Global Gold & Resources Fund, BlackRock Gold & General Fund, Quilter Investors Precious Metals Equity Fund, and SVS Baker Steel Electrum Fund were also among the best-performing funds for UK investors in 2025. These funds saw significant gains, outperforming their respective categories and delivering strong returns for investors.
