SupplyOne Inc. has acquired Wertheimer Box, a Chicago-area corrugated packaging provider, to expand custom packaging capabilities and strengthen its Midwest presence. Wertheimer Box specializes in custom shipping boxes, branded packaging, e-commerce mailers, and point-of-purchase displays with around 50 employees operating a 303,000-square-foot plant.
SupplyOne, based in Pennsylvania, operates over 50 locations in the U.S. and Canada, offering custom corrugated, foam, wood, and plastic packaging solutions. With more than 2,800 employees serving 17,000 customers, SupplyOne is part of Wellspring Capital Management’s portfolio and marks its 46th acquisition.
Wertheimer Box President Doug Wertheimer sees joining SupplyOne as providing broader logistics and national resources while maintaining the company’s local culture and customer focus. The packaging industry has faced layoffs and closures, but recent earnings show a gradually improving outlook, especially in the Midwest’s corrugated and packaging markets.
Industry data indicates a mixed but improving outlook for the packaging market, especially in segments linked to e-commerce and automation. Companies like Sealed Air and Amcor have seen stable demand from food, beverage, and healthcare sectors routed through Midwest distribution centers, supporting a positive outlook for the industry.
