Jack Dorsey’s Bitchat messaging service could facilitate Bitcoin transactions using a Bluetooth mesh network. Offline tools like Darkwire and Machankura are also in development.
Darkwire, a decentralized mesh network tool for sending data without the internet, was unveiled in May 2025. Blockstream’s satellite network and Bitchat also offer alternatives for offline crypto use. Machankura, a solution developed in South Africa, allows users to send and receive Bitcoin via the mobile telecom network without internet.
